Green Lake: Green Lakes State Park

Green Lake, located within the boundaries of Green Lake State Park in Manlius, is one of two glacially formed meromictic lakes. At over 200 feet deep this blue green sparkling lake is the centerpiece of the spectacular scenery. Onondaga County Parks  Carpenter's Brook Fish Hatchery annually stocks over 6,000 rainbow trout in it’s crystal blue waters. Fishing is allowed only during park hours and getting near the water can be tricky with all of the old growth hemlock trees hanging over the water. The lake has few forage fish so hold over trout have a difficult time making it thru the cold weather months. Spectacular scenery and the chance to catch rainbow trout in a beautiful park are reasons enough to make Green Lakes a fishing destination.
